LAKESIDE FISHING LODGE
Over a period spanning a decade we were engaged to coordinate and manage a phased program of architectural and engineering works to Holywell Estate.
The Holywell Estate is located on the wooded shores of Loch Gill in Co. Sligo. It formed part of the Wynne family estate, whose main residence, Hazelwood House, built in 1720, was designed by Richard Cassels the celebrated architect who was also responsible for Leinster House, Powerscourt and Westport House.
Holywell House is located further along the lakeshore from the main house and was originally built as a romantic single storey thatched cottage for hunting and fishing parties. Over the next 150 years it expanded into an L-shaped two storey lodge with various out houses and barns attached.
Dorman Architects project managed a phased program of architectural and engineering works including a major extension to the lakeshore house and ongoing conservation works, the extensive refurbishment works of the upper 1970’s built house, design proposal for a farm managers house, extension to caretaker’s house, new storage buildings and barns, a heli-pad, roads, communication systems and other architectural and civil engineering works.
