Conservation Introduction

CONSERVATION, RESTORATION

Driven by admiration and respect for our architectural heritage, we seek appropriate ways to re-invigorate and prolong the life of older buildings.

John Dorman is Grade III RIAI Accredited in Conservation. The practice is involved in a number of conservation, restoration and refurbishment projects. Our portfolio include buildings from 18th to the 20th century; Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian townhouses, a chapel, a Bianconi staging post/hotel, a lakeside fishing lodge, courtyard farm buildings, a large workhouse complex down and several small vernacular cottages.

Conserving the special interest and character of a building, promoting appropriate interventions and new uses, seeking economic solutions of repair rather than replacement and the concept of reversibility are some of the Principles of Conservation that guide our approach to Conservation of buildings.
