KENMARE RESOURCES
In 2017 Dorman Architects were engaged by the mining exploration company to assess their then city centre headquarters for their future needs.. and it was found wanting. A new suitable premises was located overlooking the Iveagh Gardens to the east and the Dublin mountains to the south.
The existing office was stripped back to the bare essentials allowing for the transformation of the 4th floor offices into a corporate HQ. The key elements to this fit-out were: placing the reception and large open plan office along the south elevation opening onto the large outdoor terrace; at either end the executive cellular offices; from the open plan looking back to the city are the meeting rooms and canteen; to the east the boardroom overlooking the leafy Iveagh Gardens; ancillary areas are arrayed around the core. Key to the success of this project was engaging with the client user from the concept stage right down to the furniture selection. Natural light and a comfortable working environment were to the fore. Fully glazed partitions combined with the careful selection of materials, finishes and furniture ensured we met our client’s requirements and perhaps exceeded their expectations. The backdrop to the reception is formed by a curved rich port coloured wall interrupted by walnut doors; a single forest green column alludes to the company’s corporate colour. This combination of rich colours and walnut finishes carries through to the boardroom with its veneered panelled back wall, the beautifully crafted walnut veneered table and a port coloured wool carpet lend an air of gravitas to the board room.
