A cruciform energy efficient holiday home designed as a retreat to the rugged outdoors of the Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way from the manicured plains of Kildare.
A spacious and informal light filled house orientated to maximise the extensive views of the island speckled bay. Energy efficiency design strategy: a combination of active and passive renewable technologies; orientated to maximise passive solar gain, storing the heat in the thermal mass of stone floors; a geothermal heat pump for space and water heating; high insulation levels and airtightness construction to reduce heat loss; a heat recovery ventilation system recycling energy.
