WEEKEND HOUSE
An informal and flexible holiday home which maximises space, light and views, whose layout is responsive to seasonal changes, its form and finishes respectful of the surrounding landscape.
The house was designed for clients seeking a weekend refuge from the rigours of city living. At its centre is the south facing living spaces with bedrooms arrayed east and west and storage areas to the north. The living space is wrapped with light plywood panelling where sliding timber screens open on warmer days allowing light and space flow freely whilst at night and winter days the screens slide shut, the hearth a blazing stove. Window apertures, analogous to a camera, frame particular views. External shutters function like a camera opening and closing as light and heat dictate.
